NSPCC Milton Keynes Half Marathon

26 July 2009

Fiona Tideswell reports:

This race boasted PB potential on a fast course, and half marathon being my favourite distance, it did deliver.

It was well organised, but better directions would have improved the drive through Milton Keynes.

The course takes you up and down cycle paths, along and over the Grand Union canal, alongside dual carriageways with sections on gravel paths and even a short section on board walks.

The consensus in the ladies changing room was that it was long (the eight I spoke to had all run about 13.2 miles) and not as quick as we were expecting, particularly the second half. I would definitely recommend it despite the distance to drive, but check the forecast; we were fortunate to have a warm but cloudy day with a cooling breeze, but a July half could be blisteringly hot.

Beverley made an excellent chauffeur - the travelling more enjoyable than the race itself.
