Dovedale Dash 4.75m XC

John James reports:

A cold, but dry morning for the race saw 1000+ runners lining up across the length of a very water-logged field.

After a 15min shivering delay to the start (cars stuck in the mud getting into the car-park!), we were off to a down hill sprint towards the river Dove. The only tricky bit to this was keeping upright through the muddy patches and dodging the people trying to retrive their shoes in the worst of the mud.

After that a footpath to the river, wade through upto thighs (Frieda had to swim), try not to fall over, somehow get freezing legs working again and the rest was like any other undulating xcountry route, just had to climb back up the hill to the finish.

Great scenery and location in the Peak District, may think twice before going again next year though.
