Great Eastern Run Stephane Toussenel reports: After setting PB with Nigel on Grunty Fen, the GER2008 was what it pretends to be: Flat enough to set a quick pace and try to keep it as far as body will cope with. And with good weather provided, it gave us a good boost to set PB on half marathon distance. The route was enjoyable, with patchy crowd all along to help doing well, and in my concern with great thanks to Clare Thompson support on mile 11, shouting a welcome "Monsieur" that boosted me after a struggling mile. It was nice having few of us running with also mates from the 5k such as Giulio from C&C - I tried hard to still have an eye on him - and Tim Ellis, from Haverhill. Great cheers again to Janet and Bridget, "Jet of the week-end". Ps: I try to know what is the most picturesque thing in the starting line pictures, cathedral or running suits? Janet Bradshaw adds: Really enjoyed this whole day out. Started with being picked up by Keith (many thanks Keith). We (Keith, Bridget, Stephane and myself) were lucky in parking right near the finish. This race has such a great atmosphere, and it really is ideal for anyone thinking of doing a half for the first time. On a personal level, travelling with such enjoyable company made the whole day great - thanks everyone. Well done Stephane (new PB) and Bridget (sub 2 hour at first half Marathon). |
