Great Cambridgeshire Run

Tim Hyatt reports:

I took part in the inaugural running of the Great Cambridgeshire Run, around the grounds of Wimpole Hall.

The British Heart Foundation and BBC Radio Cambridgeshire were the organsiers, and all runners were encouraged to raise sponsorship before the event.

The organisers made it clear beforehand that the run wasn't really a race, but was more about personal achievement. Entrants had the choice of running / walking a variety of distances from 1 mile to 1/2 marathon.

The great Autumn weather meant there was a good turn out, with the majority of runners completing the 1/2 Marathon distance. The course is all off road, going through picturesque countryside and woodland. The run is challenging with some tough hills, one of which you had to do twice, overall though an enjoyable run. I would definitely recommend it for next year, if you're looking for a no pressure run in a scenic setting.
